Ball, Caleb b.c. 1728 d. 11/15/1782 served as a private in Morris Co. NJ militia (S-499) he married Lois Gordon in 1780 and lived in Hanover, NJ.
In 1748 Joshua Ball of Hanover: "for and in consideration of eighty pounds of lawful money of New Jersey sold to his brother, Caleb Ball, also of Hanover, bloomer, a one equal sixth part of the Old Iron Works in Hanover, along with the one equal sixth part of the saw mill adjoining together with land, stream, dam, houses, cole house." This share in the Iron Works had previously belonged to Caleb Ball Sr. {2nd Caleb}, who had arrived in the village about 1710.

1860 Census lists Benjamin as 37 Farmer $2000 born in DE. It also show the connection back to his family since his household also lists Jane E age 66 F $15000 born in DE and Clara F 21 born in DE also there-- probably his mother and sister.
1870 Census lists Benjamin as 41 Farmer $15,000 $2,200 born in DE. Emily 37, Carrie E 15, James G 13, Anna H 11, Emma L 8, P Franklin 6, Louisa A 3, William T 1, and Alrich R 24 Farm Labor DE (appears to be the son of Leonard A #2064)
