Came from Connecticut, was apprentice to Mr. Alling (or Allen?) first blacksmith in Newark, N.J. Lived in Washington st., Newark, on N.W. corner of Edward Ball's home lot.
Town Meeting, March 11th, 1718/19 -- They have also agreed to renew the Line between Newark and Ackquackonong, the first Monday in April next. April 6th, 1718/19 -- The Line was then Renewed, and there was present from Newark Deacon Azariah Crane, Mr. James Nottman {Nutman}, ** Joseph Peck **, Joseph Ball, Joseph Baldwin, Moses Ball, Doct'r Jacob Arent, John Cooper, Thomas Stagg -- From Acquackonong Mr. Michael Vreelandt, Thomas Uriansen, Garret Harmanusen.

Joseph Peck, son of Joseph, settled in Newark, N.J. He disposed of the lands set to him from his father's estate bo his brother James and Samuel. He was a blacksmith by trade and occupation. He married Lydia, daughter of Edward Ball of NJ. She died August 22 1742. He died January 9 1746."

Joseph Peck (Deacon Joseph), eldest son of Joseph and Sarah Alling Peck, was born in New Haven 9th Oct 1675. He sold his estate left him by his father, to his brothers James and Samuel and removed to Newark, where he acquired a large tract of land in that portion of the town for many years afterwards know as Pecktown, and more recently as East Orange. On April 19 he was appointed with Deacon Azariah Crane , and James Notmand and others to renew the Newark and Acquackanaig." On March 10 1746/7 he, with five others, were chosen to take care of the Parsonage Lands and prosecute Offenders." He married Lydia Ball daughter of Edward Ball of Newark.
