Runk "State of Delaware" published in 1899: "Farmer, of Duck Creek hundred. Matthew Ford, second child and eldest son of Presley and Ellen (Melvin) Ford was born on a farm near Kenton, April 10 1830. When he was ten years old, his parents removed from this place to a leased farm in Barren Hope, Duck Creek hundred. After a few years, Presley Ford purchased two farms in the same hundred and subsequently divided them into three tracts, which are now occupied respectively by William H., Presley and Anderson Ford, brothers of Matthew Ford. Matthew received a limited education, owing to the necessity of assisting in the cultivation of his father's large property. He remained with his parents until 1854, and then leased the farm of G. W. Cummins. After ten years as a renter, he purchased the farm on which his son, John W Fords, now resides. He is an honored citizen of the hundred. For many years Mr Ford has been a Democrat, but now has a tendency to favor the Prohibition Party. Mr Ford has always been and active member of the M. E. church, and regular in his attendance upon the services. He has held a number of offices in his congregation"

1900 Nov 9 Smyrna Times: "Death of Matthew Ford. Passed away Sunday evening after a lingering illness, from diabetes. Mathew Ford, a well known, and one of the oldest residents of Severson's neck, died at the residence of his son, Mathew V. Ford on Sunday evening, in the 71st year of his age. The deceased had been identified with the religious and temperance reform movements of his vicinity for the past generation, and was recognized as a man of good purposes. Since the death of his wife, over six years ago, he has made his home with his son, and has been a great sufferer for several years from kidney trouble, 'his fatal illness being from diabetes. He was interred this afternoon in the Cemetery at Severson's Church, Rev Geo L Hardesty officiating."
Death certificate 1900 18154 lists his parents as Presley Ford and Ellen Melvin.
Robert Palmatary Book:" About the time that Matt was born, his father purchased 200 acres of land in Severson's Neck, Kent Co, which became his home farm and graveyard. Sometime later, he divided his farm into three parts and gave Matt and Nancy the part containing the graveyard. This burial ground was formerly known as Severson's Graveyard, part of Severson's Church grounds, named after James Severson (husband of 3-5 Elizabeth Palmatary) who had donated the land. There were already several early Palmatary graves there by the time Matt and Nancy came into possession of the land, which then became known as "Matt Ford's Farm."
Matt and Nancy along with young Ida and Presley were buried in Glenwood Cemetery in Smyrna. Their last child Rollins also died young but his place of burial is not known.

Joseph Peck Genealogy by Ira B Peck
"Pek, Peck of Pecke, Peke, Peak or Peake, found in the different works on heraldry, are supposed by some to have been originally the same; but Peck and Peak were doubtless distinct names.
During a portion of the fifteeth and sixteenth centuries, many of the Pecks added the final e to their names, as indeed did the English to almost every name that would admit of it. So far as I learn, the Pecks now universally drop it.
The name is of very ancient origin. There are various theories as to its original mean of or signification, and conjectures and speculations as to those who first bore it, as there are in relation to other names, frequently given by those who write genealogies, and those who furnish arms and pedigrees to order. Of these a chapter might be given; but as I design to deal with facts and not legends and conjectures, I leave them all out as not worth the space they would occupy.
The name is of great antiquity. They are found seated in England, in Belton, Yorkshire, at a very early date. From there they spread into other portions of Europe, and are now found scattered throughout every country where civilization has found its was.
A branch settled at Hesden and Wakefield, in Yorkshire, whose descendants removed to Beccles, Suffolk County, and were the ancestors of Joseph Peck, of Hingham, Norfolk County, who became the emigrant ancestor to this country.
It will be seen by the pedigree, to which the reader is referred, that he was a lineal descendant in the twenty-first generation from John Peck, Esq., of Belton, Yorkshire, and baptized April 30 1587, being in the fiftieth year of his age when he emigrated to this country."
