Hi Ruth,
I noticed your information on Greenleaf Johnson on your web site. The
father of the man you mention was also named Greenleaf, and he married
Elizabeth Harrison (my 2nd great-grand aunt). You might be interested to
look at my web site. I've been interested in finding out more about
him. Their marriage newspaper announcement in the Baltimore Sun is as follows:
Baltimore Sun, December 27, 1848
"On Thursday, the 14th instant, by Rev. Dr. Dorsey, Greenleaf Johnson, of
Boston, to Miss Elizabeth Harrison, daughter of the late Nicholas Harrison,
Esq., of Carroll County, Maryland. [Norfolk, Boston and Portland papers
please copy.]
Evidently Greenleaf was in the lumber business. There is some information
on this business that I'm still trying to sort out.
Just thought you might be interested.
Very sorry to see your message about the death of your son. No words can
help you in your grief, but do, please, know that other folks hearts go out
to you in sympathy.
Linda
