HI,
This is a message that my husband and I put out on the Vandergrist message board at Genealogy.com. Your web site has given me the
information I was looking for.
My husband buys and sells antiques and we were wishing to get more information on the family before selling the painting at a show or
sending it to an auction.
I personally would like to see it remain within the Vandergrist or Shallcross family, but that doesn't always happen with pieces that we have
family information on.
Before sending it off to sell, I would like to have the opportunity to offer it to anyone interested within the family. If you know of anyone with any
interest, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Angela Roberts

Hello:
I have recently acquired a wonderful 19th C. Reverse Painting On Glass, with an attached early and brittle enevelope
with printed "Middletown, Delaware" on the glue flap. Written on the envelope: "Painting by Mary Ellen Vandergrift Shallcross, wife of James
T. Shallcross and mother of Helen
Mary Ferguson
James T. Shallcross
Eugene Shallcross
Esther Marshall
Helen
Edwin Shallcross Helen V. Shallcross
6 children
I think Helen may have owned the painting as it looks as if she might be the one to have written the note since her name is listed twice.
I am seeking any information regarding Mary Ellen, and/or
her family and anscestors. Thank You, Very Much.
