[3154] Bob went to work for the DE Motor Vehicle Division out of HS and retired from there on May 31 1991 [after 40 years of service] He was appointed "Director" by Governor Sherman W. Tribbitt in 1973 and served the last 18 years in that capacity. In January 1992, he announced that he was a candidate for the State Senator for the 18th Senatorial District for the Democrat Party. He was elected as Senator in November 1992. In January 1997 he was elected as Senate Majority Leader by the members of the State Senate, and served as the Majority Leader until his voluntary retirement in November 1998. This completed 46 years of public service. He had been drafted into the US Army on May 26 1953 during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in May 1955. After his official retirement in 1998 he still remained active as a volunteer on various boards [People's Place, Boys & Girls Club for Greater Milford, Delaware Nature Society, Delaware Safety Council, Board of Professional Responsibility, Delaware Environmental Council, and was active in the Chesapeake Walk to Emmaus.]
