"He attended the district schools of West Dover hundred. Until he was twenty-two years old he remained on the homestead farm with his father when he left the paternal roof and began farming on his own account. He occupied a number of farms for various periods, his grandfather Hubbard's farm 160 acres, one year; the Howell farm, 100 acres near Camden, Kent Co. where he raised grain and fruits, one year; the Herlock farm, Kent Co. MD three years; the Z Seenick farm Kent CO DE one year; the Lamb farm, one year; the Stockley farm, Blackbird HD, New Castle Co, three years; the Hayes farm Appoquinimink HD, tow years, the Watkins farm, Blackbird HD, four years; the Hoffecker farm St Georges HD. three years; the George H Honston farm, near Mt Pleasant, St Georges HD, four years; the Cochran farm 446 acres on which he resided from 1897 until recently [1899]. On this large Cochran farm he has 35 head of cattle, 22 head of horses and other live stock in proportion. In 1896 he purchased the Higgins farm of 164 acres near Mc Donough. This also he cultivated and has very recently made it his home. The magnitude of his farming operations will convey the idea of Mr Voshells good judgement and industry. His neighbors respect him and have confidence in him; this has been demonstrated by his election on the Democratic ticket to the office of school commissioner in Appoquinimink and St Georges HD and to that of road commissioner in 1895. He is a member of National Lodge No 32I.O.O.F. of St Georges and an enthusiastic and popular Democrat." Runk 1899

1880 Census lists him as 29, his wife Margaret 26, Aurelia 5, Clarence 2.
1900 Census 49 DE S MK Hd Maggie 47, Clarence 22 MD
His son Clarence was ex of his will 1923 Mixed in with John C Voshell probate file 1929 is a renuncation of Margaret Voshell to Clarence to administer John W Voshell probate.
