[8660] Known most of his life as George, in his early years he worked on his father's farm; then from 1846-1857 he was a huckster between Littlestown and Westminster. He then came to own and operate a general store in Littlestown for many years; served several years as assistant county assessor of Adams Co.; helped to organize the Littlestown Savings Institution, and was President of it from 1886-1896 as well as serving as a director for many years. He helped to promote the local railroad serving the area which was called the Northern Central Railroad, and of which he served as director and treasurer for many year. He had also served as a Littlestown councilman from 1867-1883. He and his family were members of St Paul's Lutheran Ch of Littlestown
