Hello,
I have a great deal of information about John Percival Jefferson if you are interested. I
see that his name is in your charts. I also have some information on his cousin, Josephine
Jefferson Rankin. Josephine Rankin came to my town, Warren, PA with her husband who was
assigned to the First Presbyterian Church here. J. P. Jefferson came to visit Josephine soon after he graduated
from Westpoint. While visiting, J. P. met Alice Wetmore, the daughter of one of the wealthiest men in town.
J. P. and Alice were married in 1877. They had no children. J. P. Jefferson became enormously wealthy and
was a great benefactor of our town, so much written about him. In 1914 Alice was killed when she walked in
front of the trolley on a main city street here. A year later J. P. Jefferson married Mary Trunkey, the widow of
a local lawyer who had committed suicide in a lurid manner twenty years earlier. Mary and J. P. lived in
Warren for a while and then about 1920 moved to their second home, Mira Flores, in Santa Barbara, CA. Mira
Flores is now the home of the Music Academy of the West and info about it can be found on their website. J.
P. Jefferson died Sept 2, 1934. His wife, Alice Wetmore Jefferson was born in about 1854 and died Sept 9,
1914. Josephine Rankin died in 1895.
If you are interested, I can send you more information.
Thanks, Mary Grishaver
