Could be the oldest if listed as separate family with just one entry. The rest of the family listed with Robert
Cecil Co Inventory Vol. 12 p 283 dated 4/14/1801. The report is on the auction of the goods of Edward Penington that took place 12/2/1800. On the inventory sheet of sale there was a lot of Benedict Peningtons entries and Hyland B Penington.
CC Inventory Vol. 12 p 247 Samuel Bedle is listed as creditor and admin along with Thomas Sappington
This information connects this Edward as son of Robert. Benedict and Hyland B as brothers. Edward must have passed before the auction at the end of 1800.
Robert of Wm will states:"I bequeath unto my son Edward Penington's two children which he [I] had by his wife Rebecca a Bond due from said Edward unto me for the Payment of the amount two pounds eight shillings and one Penny half penny dated December the thirteenth day seventeen hundreds and ninety nine in full of their share of my estate both real and personal." This leads one to think that Edward was dead at the time of Robert making his will on June 10, 1800.
if he died in 1800 and was the father of two children, he could have been born as late as 1780 and as early as 1770???????????
J Thomas Peninton Bio "He lived to a good old age and was esteemed very highly by all who knew him. The family is of English descent, but has been identified with the Eastern Shore for several generations."
