Deed 8/12/1773 V 1 108 Obediah wife Elizabeth to Jonathan Neall. Land from John Brown Deed "the Downs" son John, Wife Elizabeth and 3 Daughters Elizabeth wife of Obediah Jr, Rachel wife of Govey Trippett and Mary Brown
Hi...I found your web site and wondered about the names Pedington/Pennington.
I have done some looking on google, and have also looked at Ambrose Dixon material...he married the widow Mary of Henry
Pedington. My interest is the Hall families in Kent, De, and in finding this land deed, I wondered if you had anything on Henry...the
first Henry(he's on a MD census in 1665) apparently came from Accomac with his step father Ambrose Dixon. Ambrose interests
me because he transported a Robert Mason, and Masons and Halls married in Kent DE.
The names change so much...wondered if you recognized anything. Pat

Ruth,
I e-mailed Alice Beard and also Steve Voshell with this same info. I
just received my g-grandfather William Edward Voshell's death certificate
from Maryland. He was born March 12, 1874, died March 16, 1937. I had
originally theorized that his parents were William T. (b. 1849) and Ellen
Voshell. But instead I find that his parents were William T.'s >>brother<<
James (b. 1842), and Marian Voshell (b. ca 1847). The handwriting's bad on
the certificate, but I think Marian's maiden name was Curry - her name
usually appears in census records as Maria. I've also printed off related
censuses from 1850 thru 1900, and it looks like this James is a son of
Thomas Voshell (b. 1817) by his second wife Sarah Jones. James and Maria
are in Thomas's household in the 1870 census in Appoquinimink Hundred. In
1880, James and Maria are in Kent County, MD with four children including
my g-grandfather William Edward. In 1900, James (without Maria) is in
Queen Anne's County, MD heading a farm household with a perplexing variety
of children, nephews, and cousins. In this census, James is listed as
being born in December 1842. (By the way, things came full circle, because
of all places James' family were located on the very next census page from
my father's other lines, the Sennets and the Mabreys, so I have the rare
treat of seeing all four of my paternal great-grandparents living a few
farms away from each other in 1900!)
Anyway, this gets me started with pursuing more research about these
generations. I wanted to get back to you and let you know what I found.
Best,
Ernie Mabrey
