Anna Margaret STONESIFER probable
[12642]
Came to America on the Ship Crown, and landed in Philadelphia on Aug. 30, 1749. On the same ship with his were his wife, one or so children, and a Hans Rudi Brobeck and Nicholas Diel (which became Dill). They had all come to the Silver Run area by the early 1750's and in which place we believe John Daniel Stonesifer and his half-brother Johannes Eberhardt were already living near the Baumgirtels.
On May 26, 1754 Martin and Anna Margaret Tschudi had a baby girl, Anna Maria, baptized by Rev Jacob Lischy, and it was either Johannes Eberhardt's wife or John Daniel's wife (both also being named Anna Maria) who was recorded as the sponsor or witness for the occasion. Rev Lischy was serving the Silver Run area as a traveling minister to the Reformed people there from about 1750. The name of Tschudi later became Study, but Martin always initialed legal papers with his letters of MT when he wasn't writing his name. The name Tschudi is believed to be of Swiss origin from the area of Basel.
When St Mary's Lutheran and Reformed Church was founded at Silver Run on May 31, 1762 three of the signers of the original charter were Martin Study, Hans Rudi Brobeck, and Nicholas Dill. Then in 1763 it said that Martin Study built a mill in the Silver Run area jointly with a "Daniel Stonecifer". The only Daniel "Stonecifer" then existing in that area was our John Daniel Stonesifer of Silver Run.
It would seem that Martin Study's wife may have been a sister of John Daniel or that the Studys were in some way related, as there is evidence of a deep and close relationship between the two families. In addition to the above material pointing that was, the following material is also presented. Both families were members of the German Reformed congregation of St Mary's . In 1755 when John Daniel's first son was born the child was named John Martin- the same name as Mr Study's name. In 1775, Martin Study sold 150 acres of land to John Daniel Stonesifer, and it was on this property that the Stonesifer Homestead was built. Both families were neighbors - their land adjoining and apparently in the area of a small town of Mayberry in the Carroll Co of today. In 1795, each sold a piece of their common land for a road through the area, and the description involve seems to indicate it may have been the road which passes through the town of Mayberry, MD. The preceding material seems to indicate that either the families were awfully good friends, or more likely, related.
