Maria Eve STONESIFER probable connection
[12639]
Came to America on the Ship Hampshire, landing in Philadelphia on Sept 7, 1748. With his was his wife, Maria Eve. They appear to have settled first in the area where in a few years our John Daniel Stonesifer and a Martin Study also settled. And it is entirely possible that the Baumgirtels having settled there is the reason for the other two families having done also.
In time the name became Bomgardner, and then to the form in which it is known today Baumgardner. Erhart apparently became critically ill, and made a will on Dec 28, 1769. He died shortly afterwards. When his estate was probated in Frederick, MD on Jan 30, 1770, John Daniel Stonesifer was named first of the two executors. Quite often in those days when estates were probated, a member of the family or a close relative would be named first and then a close friend or neighbor also to help out. The will indicates that Erhart had children, and some not yet 16 years of age. It would therefore seem quite probable that John Daniel was so named because of some kind of close relationship to either Erhart or his wife. The writer (Doyle F Wildasin) is inclined to think that Maria Eve may have been John Daniels Stonesifer's sister. Erhart would have been one of the first persons buried in the original cemetery at Silver Run
