[343] They lived near Mayberry in what is now Carroll Co. MD where he farmed 28 1/2 acres that had been purchased from his father's estate. In his will which was probated in Westminster on Sept. 23, 1839 and associated estate papers it indicates that he was also a cooper, did cloth weaving, raised bees, and possessed a number of old German books at his death which means that he could probably read in that language. It is said that Peter was considered to be a peaceable man, honorable and upright, and one who loved by his neighbors. He and his family were members of the Reformed congregation of St Mary's at Silver Run.
