[15272] Uncle Bill continued to always be the big tease. We would visit with he,
Rachel and family when we went to Millington and/or Galena. Since Rachel
and I were only children we played together until my mother moved to
Wilmington after WWII. During the war we lived with my grandmother and
great grandmother. Rachel and I would ride our bikes between the two
farms and when we moved to Wilm she would often come visit. We were 6 mo
apart in age, she being the older She was married to Donald Haley and
their home was in Galena. they had 1 adopted son Jeff who continues to
live there. Rachel had been a smoker and developed emphasyma and had
many bouts in the hospital. Uncle Bill said he caught her smoking and she
begged him not to tell her family. She died10/27/02 from complications.
Uncle Bill died at the age of 101 on 7/11/00 I always thought that what
kept him going was he wanted to take care of Rachel. Betty Bates was
Uncle Bills second wife and Rachel did not receive a real mothers love.
Rachels husband died 10/03 just 1 yr later
