1914 Sept 12 ,Ezekiel signed his will.
1927 September 14 Smyrna Times: "Ezekiel Slaughter dies at Middletown. Ezekiel Slaughter, aged 80, a former, well-known farmer of the Smyrna-Clayton vicinities, died Wednesday last at the home of his daughter Mrs. John D. Reynolds near Middletown after a long illness. He had been in failing health for five years, the last year of which he was confined to his bed. He was born near Dover and spent his entire life around Smyrna and Dover, and was an active farmer and Granger. He discontinued farming about twelve years ago and was associated in business with his son at Clayton until his health failed five years ago. Deceased was a member of St. Paul's M E Church, Clayton. Mr. Slaughter married in early life Miss Mary Lydia Ford. Sister of John W and Matthew V Ford, of Smyrna and their married life covered a period of nearly 56 years. He is survived by his wife and five children: Mrs. Ida Eckard, wife of Rev J M L Eckard of Center Hill, Florida; Mrs. John D Reynolds of Middletown; Mrs. Idella Minner, wife of Eugene Minner of Middletown; Matthew F Slaughter, of Wilmington; and Rynear W Slaughter of Clayton. Funeral took place Friday from the residence of his son in law John D Reynolds near Middletown and Interment took place in Odd Fellow Cemetery, Smyrna."
Death certificate confirms his parents as Wm. Slaughter born in DE and Caroline Price. Cause of death was cerebral hemorrhage, contributory arterioscleroses. He had lived with his daughter about a year and half and left $2700 to his wife
