Family 3: Richard Bristow ....(? ~ Sep 1683 )
MARRIAGE: AFT 1674

7-80 non cupative will of Susana Bristow of Guilford gives oldest son Aaron to have double share & other chn (not named) to share the rest equally.

27-7-1680 Richard Bristow of Guilford returns estate of Susanna Bristow formerly Blatchlye to be disposed of acc to non-cup. will.

"First Families of America" James Owen Curtis, Jr. (b. 1615-d. Boston ca. 1634 on a trading trip) m.
Susanne Ball (Alling out of Boston, m. Dorothy), she m. 2nd Richard Brislow (1637), 3rd m. to Thomas Blatchley (5 June 1643) - Children: Aaron b. 1644, Moses b. 1650, Miriam b. 1652, and Abigail b. 1645 married
Edward Ball in 1662 and had children Caleb, Abigail, Joseph, Lydia, Moses & Thomas.

[this is suspect in ligt of the other information]
William BALL was the father of Alling; Francis; John; Samuel; Richard; Col. William (who went to VA) and Susanna, who married Thomas BALTCHLEY. The source for this comes from DR. Joseph DRUSE in a letter to me dated 1981, from "Putman's Hist". Mag. Vol III p. 244 So (if all of this is correct), the rumor of a connection (though distant) to Geo. WASHINGTON becomes fact. Col. William BALL (who went to VA) was brother of Susanna BALL (who married Thomas BALTCHLEY), and he was the great grandfather of Geo. WASHINGTON. The connection of course is from Abigail BLATCHLEY, and not Edward.

Susanna (Ball?) Blatchley died in 1680 in Guilford leaving a noncupative will which was accepted by Abigail BALL and her siblings. She was a relative of Samuel ROSE of Newark (s/o Robert ROSE & Margery, of Branford, CT), or his wife MaryTOMPKINS (d/o Michael TOMPKINS of Milford, CT), as he named Abigail BALL his "cousin" in his 31 May 1698 will. The actual relationship has yet to be ascertained. Many years ago two local historians in Connecticut suggested, without proof, that Susanna's maiden name was BALL. There is a possibility that Susanna was the third sister of Alling (or Allen) BALL (s/o Allen BALL of London) of New Haven. No unambiguous clues have been found for the third sister's given name. Donald Lines Jacobus showed in his 1933 article that there was no evidence that Alling was the father of Edward-1 BALL (The American Genealogist 10:208-212). The 28 Feb 1637/8 will of John BALL of London which supplied the name of Alling's father, also mentioned he had a sister Mary RUSSELL (later moved with husband James to New Haven), two other unnamed sisters, and a married cousin, William BALL,who was then overseas (NEHGR 54:96). Almost certainly one of the unnamed sisters was the wife of Thomas FUGILL of New Haven. The cousin William may have been the William BALL who appeared in New Haven by 1643 and d. Apr 1648. As Susanna seemed to have had children by Thomas Blatchley before 1648, she could not have been the widow of William.
