owned 'Canada' located between Millington and Massey in Kent Co. later John I Pennington owned land adjacent to 'Canada'.
One of the sons of John Ward Pennington, Captain John Pennington married Sarah Newnam who owned 'Pearl land' or 'Pierce Land' located at the present Ford Landing on the Chester River in Queens Annes Co. They had three sons who also bore the rank of captain: Joseph N, Peregrine, and Joshus who married Ann Strong owner of 'Knowles Range' {wrong} Later John I Pennington foreclosed a mortgage which he held against 'Knowles Range'
The rank of captain was derived from ownership of coastwise sailing vessels engaged in transporting produce from the Eastern Shore to Baltimore and supplies from Baltimore to the Eastern Shore. Ownership was as follows"
John Pennington Schooner 'Felicity' and sloop 'Dolphin'
Joesph N sloop 'Dolphin' purchased at his father's administration sale.
