He lived in Bachman's Valley and was a member of the German Reformed Congregation of Jerusalem Ch there.
Hi. I found your website while I was researching my Bankert grandfather's family. My grandfather was John Franklin Bankert (b. 30-
Oct-1868, d. 4-Dec-1946). JFB is the son of David Stonesifer BANKERT (3 Aug 1808 - 10 Jul 1873) & Sarah Houptman. JFB left
Maryland and moved around a lot, evenually settling in Youngstown OH. There he married Catherine Nora Heavern (b. 9-Nov-1873,
d. 27-Mar-1935) on 4-Nov-1904. They moved to Detroit MI and had two daughters-- Mary Catherine Bankert (b. 30-Jun-1908, d. 30-
Jul-1979), and Eleanor Jeannette Bankert (b. 1-Dec-1910, d. 25-Feb-2003). Mary Bankert entered the convent of the IHM Sisters of
Monroe MI in 1924.. Eleanor married Albert James Dunmire (b. 12-Sep-1910, d. 15-Dec-1962) on 3-Jan-1942. EJB & AJD had one
daughter, Maryanne Patricia Dunmire (me).
In comparing the list of David and Sarah's children on your website to the list of my grandfather's siblings, I found some differences.
Here's my list:

Alfred Jonas, married to Betty Biggs, d. at age 77
Benniah, d. at age 14
William, d. young

Ellen, d. at age 20
Eliza Anne, married to William Everhart, d. at age 65
Jane, d. young
Susanne, married to Horatio Rhodes, d. at age 82
In 1940, Susanne Rhodes signed an affidavit that she was born on 6-Aug-1866 and that JFB was born on 30-Oct-1868; he needed
to prove his age-- probably for Social Security.
I was told that David Bankert's siblings were as follows:
Isaac
James
Eli
Owen
Moshiem
Margaret
but I cannot find any original documents to verify these names.
And I would like to add my thanks for your wonderful website. I was absolutely speechless when I came upon it. I think some of
the grandchildren of JFB's sister Susanne and brother Jonas are still around, altho I don't know about the others.
