Oldest son in Hannah's probate 1833 but decd.
James Voshell shows up on the 1790 census in Murderkill as James (of Obed[iah]) so he would have been at least 14? in 1790.
Oldest of Obediah's children died before Hannah's estate was settled. Theory is that is James was the oldest child on the 'outs' in his father's will. Question were there children from the first marriage to Elizabeth Brown?
Orphan court papers mention the James is the oldest child of Hannah Voshall, second marriage. She outlived her son or stepson. It may be that traditionally the stepchildren were not included in the inheritance of a stepmother. This 'step' mother must have been a 'saint' to take in James's children, the grandchildren also when they were orphaned.
Probate will for a James entered May 1 1806 lists widow as Masse and seven children: William, Daniel, Nancy, Mariam, Hannah, Obadiah, and James.
Petition of William Voshall son of James Voshall late of Kent Co deceased, petitioner is above the age of 14 and wishes to appoint his grandmother Hannah Voshall to be his guardian Aug 14 1807. Mentions the seven children, William, Daniel, Ann, Miriam, Hannah, Obediah, and James.
