Beginning in 1748, there are various land transaction recored for Johannes Arrants, including the transfer of land on the Elk River form his father in law, Nathan Phillips, as provided in the latter's will of 5/24/1748 CC Co Land rec V 7 p396 12/2/1751 These records indicate that Johannes was employed as a cordwainer (shoemaker) and, at one time, as "Keeper of the Jail" of Cecil Co.
