Thanks for your help with this mystery....BUT, you are not gonna believe
what I stumbled upon on Tuesday....My sister just happened to come visit me
from New Jersey and we took a trip to NARA in Washington D.C. While doing
a
1870 Delaware Census search I came across a Joseph Barton Deakyne who is in
my tree. And, this is what I found.
Joseph became the guardian of his nephew Joseph Fletcher Deakyne, son of
Peter Staats Deakyne at the time Peter's death in 1864. Joseph Fletcher
Deakyne is listed in the 1870 Delaware Census as living with Joseph Barton
and Clara Deakyne. Also listed in this census as living with this family
is
Sarah Moore age 17.
The name Sarah Moore rang a bell and I remembered it from your web page!
We
want to take another look at the census, however, because I did not record
all her information, occupation, etc. I am assuming she was a nanny or
something. It appears from your information she got married about the age
of 30, so perhaps she lived with Joseph B. and Clara Deakyne until then.
However long it was that she lived with them, it is obvious that she named
her son after this Deakyne family.
How about that? Cool huh?
