[489] She lived in Baltimore most of her life and was married to a wealthy sea captain who was much older, and who left his fortune to her. Family remembrances of her indicate the following: that she once went to Berlin to see if there was anything to the old family legend that pehaps the Stonesifers were nobility and were entitled to a large inheritance left behind in Germany by John Daniel Stonesifer (our immigrant grandfather) when he came to America; however, if there had ever been an inheritance it existed no longer; that she owned of was part owner of Maryland's Pimlico Race Track and other properties; that she feuded with some of her relatives; and that she lived in a high manner which was the eventual cause of her losing most of her money. She died in poverty in a run-down Negro part of town.
