Nice Article on the Hylands

To:
I am a descendant of Rebecca Hyland and John Kankey. Rebecca would have claimed the Hyland estate as her home. In the
midst of trying to locate the burial ground for the early Kankey's in Elk Neck I also talked to Judy Henry. She told me about the
Hyland tombstones, but did not think any of them were Kankeys. Do you know of a Ferry Farm in Elk Neck along Elk River? The
one at Old Field Point would be too easy, there was reportedly another ferry further up the river, and the farm was reportedly called
the "ferry farm" at least until the mid 1900s. Hereman Kankey and his family apparently owned that farm in the early 1700s. The
gravesite would have been on that land I am sure. One of the sons bought the gravesite later in the 1700s, but it has since been
lost.
I descend from Rebecca and John's son Zebulon who was a methodist preacher, with some ties to Harts Church there near Old
Field Point. Zebulon married Ariaminta Montgomery, moved to Virginia, and the rest is history.
If you have any information or references or suggestions with respect to the above, please let me know. Regardless, I enjoyed your
article. Thanks for sharing.
