[8926] They had a 153-acre farm in Bachman's Valley several miles southeast of Silver Run, and which was part of an early tract of land known as Rock Spring. Some months after marriage it was recorded in Frederick that on Aug 2 1813 that he had purchased from a John Bower a sorrel mare with a bold face three years old, one black cow with white spots about nine years old, a red cow with a white face about five years old, two bedsteads and bedding, one walnut chest and one walnut table- all for eighty dollars. Some years later, on Sept 13, 1829 he, with the help of a Joseph Keifer, purchased from Peter Sheets for one hundred dollars the following items: one bureau, one table, three iron pots, one dutch over, four chairs, and all kitchen furniture- for a note on his property.
