Obit in the Voshell Family Bible:
"Mrs. Mary E. Rees wife of David Reed a prominent farmer of Kenton Hundred died at their farm near Clayton Saturday night after a lingering illness in the 70 the year of her age. She had been an invalid for a number of years. The deceased who was formerly Miss Mary E. Thompson sister of the late W. H. Thompson a well-known clothing merchant of Smyrna, became the wife of Mr. Rees in early life. Her devotion to her home and her children was the one central thought of her life as it was in her home that her lovable characteristics were best appreciated. She was for many years a member of St Paul's M. E. Church Clayton and was a woman of deep piety. Besides her husband, eight children survive her; Mrs. W. H. Greenwell, Kenton; Mrs. Kate Fleming, Maryland; Mrs. Harry W. Jones, Clayton; Miss Jennie Rees and Miss Susie Rees who live at home; Mr. Thomas Rees Kirkwood; David R. Rees, Middletown; and Charles Rees, Clayton. Internment at Brynzion Baptist Cemetery near Kenton".
