Peter Voschell: 1 man and 1 woman were in Ulster Co. in 1710/11 (West Camp Census).

Peter Vossel also received land in Kent Co. on June 20 1717 (PA Commissioners of Property).

Actual document states "the quantity of two hundred acres of land Some distance from the divining waters of Maryland." yearly rent of one penny sterling for every acre there of 20th day of the Sixth month 1717."

1722, March 20 Survey DE Archives V2 #1220 Peter Voshell "Cabin Ridge" South of Bear Swamp. Two different copies. Michael Looper Jr is mentioned and a "WM VOSHELL 200A" is on the back of one of the surveys.

1725, May 15 H 157 Peter Voshell now of Dover HD Planter sells Michael Lowder Murderkill HD yeoman, 200a "Cabin Ridge" adj to Michaels land original warranted in June 28, 1717. "Brooks his Cabin"

Scarf's History of DE p 114 "This tract is a form of a rectangle, extending due west four hundred and twenty perches and due south eighty perches. It is described as being ' near the south side of Bear Swamp, including a certain Ridge called 'Brook's his Cabin.'" It was taken up by Peter Voshell on a warrant of June 20, 1717, and became the property of Michael Lowber Jr., Jan 3, 1744 [this date is not accurate] and is now chiefly owned by Thomas Cook and William Gooden. [How could this be if this Peter died in 1732? Turner notes-- that a deed transfer took place between these two men 1725, H 157] There is a survey plan on microfilm at DE Archives of this plot.

Henry Z Jones, Jr. in his book The Palatine Families of New York publishes 1985 writes on page 1117
"Francis (HJ) also given Delaware land in 1716"
An indenture dated 26 March 1730 between Peter Vorshall of Kent Co., Delaware - eldest brother of the late Francis Vorshall of the same place, and Obediah Vorshall - next youngest brother of the said Francis - is found in Salt Lake City Film #006452, Bk K, p. 21. There is a survey plan on microfilm at DE Archives of this plot.

The document written in the old style language and script mentions Peter Vowshall of Kent Co the oldest brother of Francis Vowshall late of same county and Obediah Vowshall planter most younger brother. The property of 200 acres is being sold to a Hugh Durborow for the sum of 20 shillings. The original property was acquired by a grant by Philadelphia on the 8 day of the seventh month 1716. There is a great description of the actual degrees and markers. [In the survey plans on microfilm at the DE Archives there is a dispute with the heirs of Hugh Dorborow and Daniel Voshell dated April 19, 1748.]

It looks like there was a widow involved in the transaction named Katherine Vowshall. [If there was no issue, did the court automatically divide the inheritance to the widow 1/3 and then to siblings of the deceased? Or, is this the mother Catharina, widow of Augustine, and the son's lands reverted to the mother and brothers? The date seems more likely to indicate this is the widow of Francis] There is a David Rees the brother's trusty friend mentioned in the final proceedings.

The estate of Peter Voshall is dated 1733 (Kathleen P. Voshall [researcher]). He was called Peter Voshel, French, by Pastor Kocherthal in 1711 when he and his 1st wife Maria had Anna Catharina b. 3 Aug 1711- sp.: Anna - w/o Johann Wooden (West Camp Luth. Chbk.). Peter md. 2nd Susannah (--), who d. by 1734 (HJ).

Orphan court papers at DE Archives have a document listing a Miles Goforth as petitioner for a Susanna Voshol on the estate of her decd. husband Peter Voshol dated Jan 24, 1732-1734.. His wife's probate is listed March 15, 1733-1736. Probates entered a year and three months apart. Although Mr Dheil writes to Jill that there is a Peter who dies without issue, there were orphan court files in DE for Peter but no names of children were listed. [Must have left young children.]

Another Goforth is mentioned in the Orphan court records for Hannah Voshall in 1833. Her daughter Nancy married a George Goforth. This may be another way to confirm that families are related to this first Peter.

There seem to be two theories-- First that there are two brothers- Augustine and Peter. Second, there is a father-son Augustine-Peter. In addition, maybe even a third theory of-- brother, son and brother--Augustine, Peter, and Peter. We may never know for sure.

If Augustine was 50 in 1709 (b abt 1659) and his oldest son was 25 then this Peter would have been born in 1684 and not the 1660. If there is a brother that traveled with Augustine then the date of 1660 makes more sense.
