He came into possession of Essex Lodge which remained in his family line (Veazey/Ward/Knight) for approximately 240 years. Harold Davis, owner of Essex Lodge, had provided us with a copy or the 1931 will of Nellie Knight Ward, naming her niece Belle Ward Graham of New Your City, and her nephew, George Ross Veazey of Baltimore, as Executors for the probation in 1940.
Third son of John Veazey (1) and Martha (Broccas) Veazey.
In 1707 he was in possession of the land purchased by his father in 1687 and also of the place called "Essex Lodge", which has been a family homestead
since his time. (see Rent Roll of Lord Baltimore for Cecil County 1707).
Positions held:
Elected a Church Warden of St. Stephen's Parish February 10, 1707.
Vestryman April 21, 1712, serving until 1719 (St. Stephen's Register).
He married Susanna Broccas about 1700 in Cecil County, Maryland and left an only child:
John Veazey, Jr. (11), born February 12, 1701. (St. Stephen's Register)
