[8886] Born on the old family homestead in Allegheny Co PA; graduated from Lafayette College in 1874; then from what is now Princeton Theological Seminary in 1877; was ordained a Presbyterian minister in 1878; served churches in Mercer, PA and Dover DE; also served as chaplain to the Delaware Legislature. In 1899 he received a Doctor of Divinity degree from Lafayette College, and where he served as college librarian from 1902-119; was a director and vice pres. of the Easton PA YMCA; and had authored a "History of Dover Presbyterian Church." In the 1890's and early 1900's he did family research which he summarized in a chart of known names and accompanying brief notes. His material has been most helpful in later extensive Stonesifer family research.
