Ruth Stonesifer's Long Arm (LongArm) Quilting Service

I can quilt that top that has just been sitting there ever since you finished it
- oh so long ago.

What's New

Added a tally of the Quilts of Valor.

Added a Quilting Cost Estimator.

Photos of my Quilts of Valor project.

New class schedule for 2006.

I specialize in quilting amateur quilts for a reasonable price with quick turnaround. I charge $18/hr with a minimum 2 hour charge. Typical charges are shown below. I can provide the batting for about the same cost you can get it in the store. It is priced by the inch, so actual cost depends on the length (or width) of your quilt. I use Quilters Dream Select natural cotton or poly. I don't charge for thread or thread changes but I seldom change the thread color on a quilt. Your quilt should be returned to you within 6 weeks in most cases.

All my quilting is done free hand. I don't use any templates or patterns. Because of this you should expect some variation in the resulting work. I can work much faster without patterns and therefore can charge you less. See some examples of my work here.

I accept cash or check. Unfortunately if you live in Pennsylvania I have to charge the usual sales tax. But, if you ship your quilt to me from outside Pennsylvania, you are sales tax free!

These prices do not include anything other than quilting your top, batting and back together with a pattern similar to those you see on the samples pages. You can choose the pattern or leave it to me. Most of my long time customers leave it to me.

Sample Prices

Size Quilt Batting Binding
Crib (60" x 46") $56 $14 $34
Twin (92" x 72") $100 $27 $51
Double (96" x 92") $125 $35 $57
Queen (108" x 92") $138 $35 $61
King (120" x 122") $192 $45 $73

To get a better idea of the cost to quilt your top try my quilting cost estimator.

One other important point is to make sure your back and batting are a little larger (at least 2" on each side) than the top and that the top is as square as possible. I understand that many of you are just starting and this is hard to do but try your best.

I can provide other services like trimming or binding your quilt (about 2 hours). I can also piece the back from your fabric or I can provide the fabric.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions.

If you are in the Doylestown, PA area, I work part time at Byrne Sewing Connection.

They are located at 422 East Butler Ave. (Rt 202), New Britain, PA, 215-230-9411. That's about a mile south on Rt 202 from the intersection of Rt 202 and the Rt 611 Bypass. We're on the left side if you're traveling south.

You can bring your quilt to the store and leave it (even if I'm not there) but if you want to talk to me in person check with me first to make sure I'll be in the store when you visit. My schedule varies a lot.

Be sure to check the Byrne web site and get on their mailing list for the newsletter. They have some great things going on through the year. Yes, I know you'd expect me to say that since I work there, but I started out as a customer, found a social club and now I work there. I have a friend who moved to West Virginia and still makes most of the B Club meetings. We have a good time and things are pretty low key.
